Requirements

  • 2+ years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience with full-cycle bookkeeping.
  • Experience supporting month- and year-end closes.
  • Experience compiling working papers.
  • Experience contributing to audits.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, and nested formulas.
  • Familiarity with G-Suite.
  • Obsession with accuracy and detail.
  • Respect for confidentiality.
  • Ability to double-check work and deliver trustworthy reports.
  • Humble: put the team and others' needs ahead of your own.
  • Hungry to learn more.
  • People smart: a great teammate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fast-paced industries like eCommerce, digital marketing, or supplements.
  • Education in Accounting or a related field.
  • Pursuing an accounting designation.

Responsibilities

  • Close books end-to-end, reconciling bank, credit card, AP/AR, and GL accounts to zero.
  • Post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments cleanly, and resolve discrepancies.
  • File tax obligations such as GST/HST, WCB, EHT, WSIB, CRA, IRS, and VAT.
  • Prepare full monthly financials for business units and provide commentary on budget vs. actual discrepancies.
  • Create standardized templates in QBO/Excel to improve reporting and variance analysis.
  • Document SOPs, tighten internal controls, and improve accounting processes for efficiency and scalability.
  • Maintain capital asset registers, track acquisitions and disposals, and ensure accurate depreciation.
  • Manage prepaid schedules and ensure correct recognition.
  • Perform gap analyses, identify inefficiencies, and propose automations to save time and reduce errors.
  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, support month- and year-end closes, and compile working papers.
  • Contribute to audits.
