About The Position
This is a part-time language instructor position for the Fall 2026 semester at the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) at the University of Ottawa. The course, FLS 2810 Section A, focuses on intermediate French oral comprehension and expression, including pronunciation, spelling-to-sound relationships, spoken grammar, and active vocabulary. The course will be delivered online and will involve practical exercises such as free conversations, short presentations, role-playing, and activities based on authentic communication tasks from the health sector. Individual practice is also a component of the course.
Requirements
- B.A. with a specialization in a field relevant to teaching French as a second language (L2) or a higher certificate in teaching French as a second language (L2).
- Two years of experience teaching French as a second language (FLS) at the college and/or university level.
- Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent FLS course.
- Experience with heterogeneous groups.
- Acceptable level of education/experience may be considered equivalent to the required education/experience.
Responsibilities
- Teach Intermédiaire: Compréhension et expression orale (FLS 2810 Section A) online.
- Conduct practical exercises in oral comprehension and expression, including conversations, presentations, and role-playing.
- Utilize authentic communication tasks from the health sector.
- Provide individual practice opportunities for students.
