About The Position

This is a new position for the Fall 2026 academic period, specifically for the FLS 3810-A course at the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) within the Faculty of Arts. The course, 'Avancé: Compréhension et expression orale', focuses on advanced oral comprehension and production strategies, critical evaluation, and expressing opinions and feelings. It involves advanced use of varied texts with note-taking and synthesis, oral practice through imitation, discussions, and presentations, and the study of familiar and semi-formal registers, all related to the health domain. The course will be delivered online (virtual mode) from October 1 to December 10, 2026, with classes held on Thursdays from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, excluding the reading week.

Requirements

B.A. with a specialization in a field relevant to teaching French as a second language (L2) or a higher certificate in teaching French as a second language (L2).
Two years of experience teaching French as a second language (FLS) at the college and/or university level.
Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent FLS course.
Experience with heterogeneous groups.
An acceptable level of training/experience may be considered equivalent to the required training and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

Teach 'Avancé: Compréhension et expression orale' (FLS 3810-A) online.
Employ advanced strategies for oral comprehension and production.
Introduce critical evaluation and formulation of opinions and sentiments.
Utilize varied texts of different lengths and difficulties, incorporating note-taking and synthesis exercises.
Practice oral expression through imitation of complex models, structured discussions, commentary, and oral presentations.
Focus on oral comprehension and communication in familiar and semi-formal registers.
Reinforce grammatical and lexical knowledge.
Connect course content to the health domain.
