About The Position

Grace Chinese Alliance Church (GCAC) is seeking a full-time English Interim Pastor to lead its English-speaking ministry and younger generations. Located in Brooklyn Chinatown, GCAC is a Christian & Missionary Alliance church focused on Jesus and fulfilling the Great Commission. The church was founded in 1988 and serves the Sunset Park community through its Chinese and English congregations, which work together in worship, discipleship, evangelism, ministries, and fellowship. Combined weekly attendance is approximately 100–120, and the English worship service has around 25 attendees weekly.

The Interim English Pastor will lead the English ministry and younger generations in alignment with GCAC’s vision, mission, and values. The position leads the spiritual welfare, growth, and life of the ministry, including discipleship, evangelism, and equipping the congregation for service. It oversees youth ministry, develops discipleship programming for youth and adults, serves as the primary English-language preacher, coordinates English worship service roles with the Worship Department, and participates in congregational care.

The Interim English Pastor is accountable to the Senior Pastor and participates in regular and annual performance evaluations, with input from others as indicated. In the absence of a Senior Pastor, the position is accountable to the Governing Board. As a licensed official worker, the pastor is also accountable to the District Superintendent. The position requires licensing with The Christian & Missionary Alliance.

Requirements

• Fluency in English for preaching.
• At least 2 years of pastoral experience.
• Licensed with the Christian & Missionary Alliance, or eligible for a license; the position requires licensing with the Alliance.

Nice To Haves

• Conversational fluency in Cantonese or Mandarin.
• Intimate familiarity with Chinese immigrant culture.
• A burden for ministry among second-generation Chinese Americans.

Responsibilities

• Lead the English ministry and younger generations in alignment with GCAC’s vision, mission, and values.
• Lead the spiritual welfare, growth, and life of the English ministry and younger generations, including discipleship, evangelism, and equipping the congregation for service.
• Oversee the youth ministry, including training Sunday school teachers and youth leaders.
• Develop an intentional discipleship program for youths and adults.
• Serve as the primary preacher for the English ministry and arrange other pulpit ministry under the oversight of the Senior Pastor.
• Work with the Worship Department to oversee the arrangement and delegation of English worship service roles.
• Engage in congregational care ministries.
• Maintain strong written and oral communication to sustain relationships within the congregation and broader community.
