About The Position

The Interconnection & MMR Manager, Central provides dedicated regional ownership for meet-me-room (MMR) operations, cross-connect delivery, access coordination, remediation, operational readiness, and records across assigned North American campuses. The position is based on-site at an office in San Antonio, Shackelford County, New Albany, or Port Washington, with three days on-site and two flexible days. The role focuses primarily on Texas campuses and developing Central sites, establishing a consistent operating model and coordinating with Customer Experience, Site Operations, Security, Construction, Legal, Procurement, carriers, and customers. The 2027 mandate is to establish Central-region MMR ownership, strengthen Texas coverage and readiness, improve cross-connect execution, and reduce geographic and workload pressure on the East and West MMR Managers. The manager oversees day-to-day MMR operations and cross-connect work; coordinates access, changes, and security controls; drives readiness, remediation, and standards; and serves as a regional contact for carriers, customers, and internal teams. The role maintains accurate operational records and capacity information, supports incident response and escalations, and contributes to scalable North American governance, training, and procedures. Regular travel to assigned campuses and other North American locations is required, as is availability for a critical-issue on-call or escalation rotation when required. The work combines office-based duties, remote coordination, and activity in operating data-center and construction environments. Campus walks, climbing stairs or ladders, inspecting racks and overhead or underfloor pathways, working around active critical infrastructure, and using appropriate personal protective equipment may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform essential functions.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of relevant experience in data centers, telecommunications, carrier operations, network infrastructure, interconnection, structured cabling, critical facilities, or a closely related environment.
  • Practical experience with meet-me rooms, cross-connect delivery, carrier demarcation, fiber-optic infrastructure, and controlled-access environments.
  • Working knowledge of fiber and copper cabling, patch panels, racks, pathways, labelling, power redundancy, and change-control practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent requests, projects, vendors, and escalations across geographically distributed sites.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, stakeholder-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and experience with service-management, project-tracking, DCIM, or comparable operational systems.
  • Ability to travel regularly and work across North American time zones; availability for critical escalations when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Networking, Information Technology, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working for a colocation data-center operator, network carrier, fiber provider, cloud provider, hyperscaler, or mission-critical infrastructure organization.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, DCIM platforms such as Sunbird dcTrack, SharePoint, Procore, Ironclad, or comparable tools.
  • Knowledge of carrier onboarding, service agreements, MOP/CMOP governance, TPRM/MSA dependencies, and customer cross-connect delivery.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as BICSI RCDD/DCDC, FOA CFOT, PMP, or ITIL.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day MMR operational governance for the Central region, with primary coverage for Texas campuses and developing Central sites.
  • Maintain a regular campus cadence covering room readiness, rack and pathway availability, power, labelling, housekeeping, access controls, remediation needs, and operational risks.
  • Coordinate regional coverage and continuity with the East and West Interconnection & MMR Managers, including vacation, escalation, and surge support.
  • Validate cross-connect requests for technical completeness, carrier readiness, authorized pathways, available capacity, and required agreements.
  • Lead planning, execution oversight, and closure for fiber, copper, and coaxial cross-connects, including coordination, testing confirmation, and record updates.
  • Coordinate inter-building connectivity and complex routing requests with engineering, construction, and operations stakeholders.
  • Support timely delivery against established service commitments when carriers are provisioned and prerequisites are satisfied.
  • Coordinate MMR access requests with Security and Site Operations through approved ServiceNow and site-access processes.
  • Confirm carrier and vendor personnel have required approvals, work plans, MOPs/CMOPs, escorts, and change records before entering controlled areas or performing work.
  • Maintain auditable access and activity records and support periodic reviews of access compliance and exceptions.
  • Identify and drive remediation of MMR issues involving rack layouts, A/B power, cable management, labelling, pathways, capacity, and carrier equipment placement.
  • Participate in design, construction, turnover, and site-acceptance reviews to validate MMR requirements before ready-for-service handoff.
  • Apply and improve standard MMR design and installation requirements, escalate deviations, and document agreed exceptions.
  • Coordinate vendors and internal teams through implementation, inspection, punch-list closure, and final operational acceptance.
  • Serve as a regional technical and operational point of contact for carriers, ISPs, cloud providers, enterprise customers, and internal Customer Experience teams.
  • Partner with the Carrier Relationship Manager and Legal on carrier onboarding and Carrier Service Agreement dependencies while maintaining controlled operational execution.
  • Provide technical input for customer and carrier discussions, escalations, scope validation, deployment sequencing, and site-specific interconnection options.
  • Support accurate capture of billable cross-connect and MMR services and provide operational evidence to commercial and Finance partners.
  • Maintain accurate records for requests, LOAs, circuit and cross-connect identifiers, rack and port assignments, carrier equipment, pathways, capacity, diagrams, agreements, and completion evidence.
  • Use ServiceNow, DCIM/Sunbird, SharePoint, and approved tracking tools as systems of record; identify and correct data-quality gaps.
  • Monitor MMR rack, port, pathway, and power capacity and recommend upgrades before constraints affect delivery.
  • Produce status reporting on demand, backlog, ageing, readiness, remediation, access compliance, capacity risks, and escalations.
  • Coordinate diagnosis and resolution of MMR and interconnection issues with carriers, Site Operations, Network/IT teams, Security, and vendors.
  • Lead or support time-sensitive customer and carrier escalations, establish owners and recovery actions, and maintain stakeholder communications.
  • Document lessons learned, improve workflows, and contribute to scalable North American MMR governance, training, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call or escalation rotation for critical interconnection issues as required by the operating model.
  • Establish an operating cadence, stakeholder map, and clear coverage and escalation paths for assigned Central campuses.
  • Complete baseline readiness and risk reviews for priority Texas and Central sites and maintain a prioritized remediation plan.
  • Improve cross-connect cycle time, ageing, and backlog through consistent intake, validation, delivery, closure, and recordkeeping.
  • Increase adoption of the approved MMR access workflow and reduce manual or exception-based requests.
  • Ensure MMR, carrier, cross-connect, and capacity records are complete and reliable in designated systems of record.
  • Document and promote adoption of repeatable standards, handoffs, and reporting across North America.
