About The Position

The Intensive Care Registered Nurse works in a 20-bed ICU specializing in neurologic care. The unit provides care for patients with a variety of needs, including stroke, post-operative neurosurgery, ventricular drains, abdominal pressure monitoring, CRRT, and hypothermia. The position is PRN for days, with one 12-hour shift.

Requirements

• Active Kentucky nursing license.
• BCLS certification required within 90 days of employment.
• ACLS certification required within six months for experienced staff nurses and within one year for new graduate nurses.

Responsibilities

• Assess and identify patient needs and implement appropriate interventions.
• Establish and maintain a plan for delivery of nursing care.
• Ensure nursing interventions and activities are directed toward resolving patient problems.
• Perform technical aspects of care competently.
• Use strong critical-thinking skills in providing critical care.
• Serve as a resource for patients and families and guide them through the stages of the critical-care journey.
