About The Position

Springwoods Behavioral Health is an 80-bed behavioral health facility in Fayetteville, Arkansas, providing acute inpatient treatment for adolescents and adults, a specialty program for women, and outpatient treatment. The Intake Counselor interviews and assesses potential patients and callers, and helps ensure smooth, orderly hospital admissions. The role responds to requests for assistance by telephone or in person, providing admissions screening, crisis intervention, and referrals to hospital staff, services, or outside sources as appropriate. Admissions are coordinated with the Business Office, Utilization Review, and Nursing Services.

Requirements

• Must be an RN, licensed therapist, or MSW.
• Must hold a current license in the State of Arkansas.
• Two years of previous experience with psychiatric care.

Nice To Haves

• One year of previous intake experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview and assess potential patients and inquiry callers.
• Receive admission inquiry calls and assess patients for admission.
• Help ensure smooth and orderly admissions to the hospital.
• Work with the Business Office regarding patient financial data.
• Work with the Utilization Review Department to certify admitted patients.
• Initiate referrals when indicated and communicate with referral sources.
• Respond to people requesting assistance by telephone or in person.
• Provide admissions screening, crisis intervention, and referrals based on the nature of the problem.
• Coordinate admissions with the Business Office, Utilization Review, and Nursing Services.
