About The Position

Northeast Family Services is seeking an experienced Intake and Authorization Specialist to join its Massachusetts team. The specialist manages registration and admissions for the organization’s five Massachusetts regions. The role also involves responding to incoming calls, gathering referral information, verifying insurance coverage, and scheduling client appointments. Successful candidates are highly organized and detail-oriented, have working knowledge of payer portals, co-pays, deductibles, and health insurance benefits, and communicate effectively. The specialist works as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes program directors, clinicians, nurse practitioners, and peers. The position is suited to someone with professional experience in a behavioral health environment who enjoys helping people obtain support.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 2 years of experience in patient intake and scheduling.
Working knowledge of insurance benefits and authorizations.
Proficient computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Experience working with and helping clients with co-occurring disorders.
Ability to maintain client and company confidences.
Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to remain composed under stress.
Strong time-management and organizational skills.

Prior Massachusetts Medicaid experience.
