This role is for individuals who have a desire to meet new people, develop new contacts, and become known in their community. It's for those passionate about serving their community and who want to grow their sales, business, and networking skills to new heights. This role is ideal for those who have wanted to start their own business but were deterred by extreme start-up costs. At Shelter, a previous background in the insurance industry is not required. While experience is a plus, it is not a necessity, as many new agents come from diverse backgrounds such as real estate, retail sales, education, and coaching. What is required is a motivated attitude, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the capacity to effectively communicate with clients in a sales atmosphere. While some sales experience and a degree with general business courses are helpful, Shelter provides a mix of in-house and virtual new agent training schools, along with continuing industry education courses, to build the foundation necessary to launch an agency. Shelter does not require prospective agents to have capital/assets on hand to be considered for an agency, nor do they sell or loan money to agents to begin their business. The company provides the opportunity, with the only expectations being that agents meet sufficient sales requirements and core business proficiencies. If an agent is no longer with Shelter for any reason, their financial responsibilities are limited to any unsatisfied bills owed through their departure, such as advertising contracts, telephone bills, and utilities. A true business owner’s mindset is required to succeed. While developing prospects and selling Shelter products will be the main focus, there is an opportunity to bring on staff for administrative duties and sales support. This opportunity is for those with a strong desire to be a business owner, a vigorous passion for helping people, and a desire to work for a company that strives to be a leader in its communities.
