This role is for individuals who have a desire to meet new people, develop new contacts, and become known in their community. It's for those passionate about serving their community, wanting to grow their sales, business, and networking skills, and who desire to control their own income. This opportunity is ideal for those who have wanted to start their own business but were deterred by extreme start-up costs. At Shelter, we do not require previous insurance industry experience; while it's a plus, it's not a necessity. Many new agents come from backgrounds in real estate, retail sales, education, and coaching. A motivated attitude, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the capacity to effectively communicate with clients in a sales atmosphere are required. While some sales experience and a degree with general business courses are helpful, our comprehensive training, including in-house and virtual new agent training schools, along with continuing industry education courses, will build the necessary foundation to launch your agency. Shelter does not require prospective agents to have capital/assets on hand or sell/loan agencies. We provide the opportunity, with expectations focused on meeting sufficient sales requirements and core business proficiencies. Financial responsibilities upon departure are limited to unsatisfied bills like advertising contracts, telephone bills, and utilities. A true business owner's mindset is required to succeed. While developing prospects and selling Shelter products will be the main focus, there is an opportunity to bring on staff for administrative duties and sales support.
