About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking skilled Instrument Fitters to join our team at Pemex in Deer Park, TX. This role involves planning, fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing electronic and pneumatic instruments, including primary piping and tubing. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient installation and maintenance of instrumentation systems.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • Proficient in bending and running tubing.
  • Able to fabricate small runs of screw piping.
  • Able to replace steam traps.
  • Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.
  • Written pre-employment qualification test.
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
  • Hazard Communication orientation/test.
  • Turner Industries Group, LLC indoctrination.
  • OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87).
  • Job site orientation.
  • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.).
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the work place.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Instrumentation Degree or NCCER Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans layout, fabricates, assembles, installs and repairs instruments, both electronic and pneumatic, including primary piping and tubing.
  • Selects type and size of pipe and related material according to job specification.
  • Installs new, modifies or repairs existing installations.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs primary piping and tubing.
  • Installs tubing, multitude bundles, junction boxes, instruments, both electronic and pneumatic, air piping and tubing.
  • Connects all piping and tubing to equipment.
  • Leak tests all piping and tubing installed.
  • Observes all installed instrument and systems to determine hazards, need for adjustment, relocation or replacement.
  • May repair faulty equipment or systems.
  • Minimizes waste of material and avoids unsightly, hazardous or unreliable installations.
  • Bending and running tubing.
  • Fabricating small runs of screw piping.
  • Replacing steam traps.
