About The Position

Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Temporary Instructor position in the Doctoral of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program in the Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026. This appointment is for AY2026-2027; which may be renewable up to a maximum of three years, inclusive of the initial appointment. The candidate would be expected to teach 27 load hours over each the calendar year; during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. The search will remain open until the position is filled. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position. The Occupational Therapy Program seeks to develop occupational therapists as transformational leaders, scholars, and advocates, through innovative teaching, immersive experiential learning, and dynamic interprofessional community partnerships prepared to meet the needs of diverse people, populations, and communities.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in occupational therapy or related major awarded by an institution that is accredited by a United States Department of Education (USDE)-recognized regional accrediting body.
  • Possess initial certification by National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in New Jersey by the time of position start.
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the university level.
  • Ability to work constructively with members of the University community.
  • Demonstrated/documented scholarly capacity to mentor doctoral capstone student projects

Nice To Haves

  • One year of teaching experience at a college or university.
  • Documented expertise in their area(s) of teaching responsibility and knowledge of the content delivery method (e.g., distance learning)
  • Occupational therapy practice experience in mental health (preferred)
  • Multilingual applicants from diverse, minority, or underrepresented backgrounds encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 27 load hours per calendar year; during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
  • Develop and deliver course lectures, discussions, and assignments in accordance with the curriculum and learning objectives.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student engagement and academic success.
  • Develop and administer projects and exams to evaluate student learning outcomes and provide grades in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
