Part - Time Instructor, Veterinary Nursing - FY 2027
About The Position
The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is seeking a Part-Time Instructor for Veterinary Nursing for FY 2027. This role involves advising students, instructing didactic courses and laboratories, supervising students on clinical rotations, and performing clinical duties in the CSN Veterinary Nursing Teaching Clinic. The instructor will also maintain student records, stay current with veterinary medicine procedures and techniques through continuing professional development, and participate in AVMA-CVTEA accreditation activities. Additionally, the position requires participation in various committees and may involve multi-campus assignments with the possibility of day, evening, and/or weekend classes. Other duties include academic advising, curriculum development, and service to the institution and community.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, OR Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology or Nursing, OR Associate degree in veterinary technology or nursing from an accredited College/ University.
- Must be currently licensed as a veterinarian OR a veterinary technician (nurse) in the State of Nevada.
- 2 years professional experience as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in clinical practice OR in an academic setting or as a veterinary nurse in clinical practice.
Nice To Haves
- Previous teaching experience in veterinary medicine.
- Previous teaching experience in higher education.
- 1 year of experience teaching at a community college.
- Experience teaching and/or working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.
- Experience with curriculum development.
- Experience teaching online courses.
- Demonstrated knowledge of course and classroom management.
- Experience developing and implementing field trips for undergraduates to local/regional areas of interest.
Responsibilities
- Advise students as needed.
- Instruct veterinary didactic courses, laboratories and supervise students on clinical rotations as assigned by the Program Director.
- Perform clinical duties as required in the CSN Veterinary Nursing Teaching Clinic.
- Maintain student records, i.e., grades, attendance, exams, assignments, competencies, etc.
- Maintain current knowledge of general veterinary medicine procedures and techniques through continuing professional development.
- Participate in AVMA-CVTEA accreditation activities to support the continuing accreditation of the Veterinary Nursing program at CSN.
- Participate in program, department, school, and college-wide committees.
- Academic advising, curriculum development, and service to the institution and community.
