About The Position

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is seeking a Part-Time Instructor for its JUMPSTART program in Automotive for FY 2027. This role involves teaching pre-approved CSN Jumpstart Classes at the high school level in coordination with the CSN Dual Credit Office. The instructor will be responsible for delivering lecture and lab instruction, adhering to curriculum standards and objectives, grading student work, preparing progress reports, and evaluating student performance to meet learning needs. Additionally, the instructor will demonstrate and assist students with lab procedures, ensuring adherence to safety precautions.

Requirements

Applicants must be pre-approved by the Department of Applied Technology before applying in Workday.
CCSD Business and Industry License or Secondary Education Teaching License.
ASE Certifications required to teach AUTO 115- Automotive Electricity and Electronics I: A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems
ASE Certifications required to teach AUTO 136- Engine Repair: A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems, A1 Engine Repair

Nice To Haves

5 years of automotive diagnostic and repair shop experience
One-year equivalent full time teaching experience
Recently taken or taught Automotive courses at CSN
Knowledge of computer classroom technologies
Knowledge of Canvas or other Learning Management Systems

Responsibilities

Teach pre-approved CSN Jumpstart Classes at your high school in coordination with the CSN Dual Credit Office.
Lecture and lab instruction
Instruct students in accordance with the curriculum standards and objectives
Independently grade and prepare progress reports in accordance with school policy.
Evaluate the performance of students regarding achievements in curriculum and activities and make necessary provisions to meet learning needs.
Demonstrate and assist students with lab procedures and ensure adherence with safety precautions.
