About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for the course "Exploring Language through Literary and Cultural Texts SPAN 2P20 2 LEC 1 F 1200-1500". The mode of delivery for this course will be face to face during the term. The compensation for this position is $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) or $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally), effective September 1, 2026. Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture, or equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Duties and responsibilities align with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement, including scheduled contact time, lecture preparation, student consultation, marking, grading, and course administration. The successful candidate will collaborate with the BUFA course coordinator or the Hispanic and Latin American Studies Program Coordinator.

Requirements

  • Graduate Degree (PhD or PhD abd) in Spanish Studies
  • Record of sustained successful teaching of Spanish at a University level
  • Native or near native fluency in English and Spanish
  • Commitment to and competence in the use of Standard International Spanish
  • Experience in computer-based instruction
  • Experience in the incorporation and development of web-based pedagogical techniques, materials, and resources in a blended/online/hybrid course delivery
  • Application of online student tracking systems
  • Competence in the use of web-based course administrative tools designed and supported by the University (Brightspace), as well as Connect, LearnSmart and similar eLearning platforms
  • Teaching documentation: evidence of teaching competence; official student and peer evaluations; teaching dossier; references
  • Ability to work alone without immediate direct supervision
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Clear comprehension of multi-section teaching
  • Commitment to responsible time management (e.g. course structuring, punctuality for lectures)

Responsibilities
