About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) SOCI 4P89 - CONTROVERSIES IN SOCIOLOGY course. The course delivery is in person on Fridays from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The compensation for a half course is $7,887.59 and for a full course is $15,775.20, effective September 1, 2026. Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Requirements

  • PhD in Sociology, Criminology or closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated university training in the sociological analysis of controversies
  • Specialization in controversies in sociology emphasizing issues in the 21st century
  • Demonstrated successful university teaching experience in controversies in sociology
  • Demonstrated research in controversies in sociology
  • Demonstrated success teaching in a university setting
  • Cover letter explaining how qualifications are met
  • Current resume

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration
  • Handling grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
