Requirements

Master’s degree in History or a related discipline.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Two (2) or more years teaching history at the college-level (48+ credits).
Experience of course development and teaching History (e.g., Western History, US History, World History, US Civil War, Vietnam War, Cold War, and/or History of Religion) at the college level.
Experience using technology to enhance the learning environment, e.g., Blackboard, online instruction or other modalities/software.
The ability to communicate additional languages beyond English (e.g., ASL, Spanish, Arabic, Bosnian) is considered a preferred qualification for all student and community facing positions.

Responsibilities

Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date.
Respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.).
Perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources.
Other teaching and related duties as outlined on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Teaching courses within the assigned discipline area in accordance with institutional standards.
Evaluating and assessing student learning outcomes.
Providing student support, mentoring, and academic advising.
Developing curriculum and periodically reviewing and updating instructional materials.
Assisting with program reviews and accreditation-related activities.
Planning and executing program-related events.
Attending workshops, trainings, and/or professional conferences to maintain currency in the field.
Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies.
Service on assigned committees and task forces.
Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings, which may occur during evenings and weekends.
