About The Position

Solano Community College District is seeking part-time/hourly instructors for its History Department. These are non-tenure track positions where adjunct faculty would teach one to three courses per semester. Selected candidates may be offered in-person teaching assignments at one or more of our campus centers. The immediate need is for faculty qualified to teach American Women’s History and U.S. History to 1877, with potential opportunities for faculty experienced in teaching California History and early world history. This is not a remote work assignment.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in History OR a Bachelor's degree in History AND a Master's degree in Political Science, Humanities, Area Studies; Women's Studies, Gender Studies, Social Science or any Ethnic Studies; OR the equivalent; OR possession of a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in History
• A sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

• All degrees must be from accredited institutions.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in American Women’s History, US History, World History, and/or California History
• Provide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, which may include morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend assignments.
• Inform/advise students about course requirements; evaluate and provide timely verbal and written assessments of student performance; prepare and grade assignments and examinations; meet administrative timelines and submit completed reports and required documents; and maintain required student attendance, scholastic records, and other related materials.
• Participate in the development, assessment, and evaluation of student learning outcomes (SLO) and Program Level Outcomes (PLO).
• Optional participation in professional development activities and initiatives, both departmental and college wide.
• Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
