PT Dance Instructor
About The Position
Love to dance? Share your passion with children of all ages while helping them learn new skills, express themselves, and discover the joy of movement. Teach, create, and inspire—while getting paid to do what you love! Under the supervision of the Manager of Cultural Arts, Camps and Seniors, and the direction of the Cultural Arts Coordinator, the Dance Instructor is responsible for teaching a variety of dance programs and classes depending on the strength and knowledge of the instructor. Classes may include Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Tap, etc. for ages 2.5 years and older with varying skill levels. The Dance Instructor is responsible for general classroom management, planning, and instruction including dance terminology, warmups and basic stretching, dance technique, and choreography of dances. The ideal candidate will have a passion for dance, be self-motivated and have an outgoing energetic personality. Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with participants and their parents, staff, and the public are essential. Previous dance and/or instructing experience is required.
Requirements
- Previous dance and/or instructing experience is required
- Previous experience working with children is required
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred
Nice To Haves
- Hip hop experience
- Some ballet/tap (but that can be taught if needed)
- Knowledge in multiple styles of dance is preferred
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification is a plus but will be provided if needed
Responsibilities
