About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for an Instructor for MUSI 1P84 Wind Ensemble – Fall/Winter (D1). This course involves the study of selected wind literature in rehearsal and performance, focusing on the development of sight-reading, technical, and interpretive skills. The delivery method is in-person, with rehearsals scheduled for 3 hours per week for two terms, plus participation in dress rehearsals and concert performances as required. The class is held on Tuesdays from 1900 to 2200.

Requirements

• Relevant Master of Music degree or equivalent professional experience
• Significant professional experience conducting instrumental ensembles and/or directing wind/brass ensembles at the undergraduate level
• Demonstrated effectiveness of teaching through student or peer teaching evaluations, letters of recommendations, or equivalent documentation
• Demonstrated ability to use the BRIGHTSPACE online learning management system or equivalent systems in other institutions

Responsibilities

• Scheduled contact time with students
• Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration
• Handling grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
