About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) DART 4D56 D1 (Fall/Winter) Collaborative Play Development Ensemble-based theatrical devising. Exploration of creative, design, and production processes for the collaborative ensemble. Students take on the roles of a small theatre company as they explore creating a new play from inspiration to presentation. Lab, 8 hours per week; additional production time as required. LABS: Wednesday 10:00 – 13:00; Friday 10:00 – 13:00, 14:00 – 16:00

Requirements

  • PhD or MFA in directing and/or devising for theatre, or a relevant, related discipline.
  • Significant professional and/or scholarly contributions to directing and/or devising for theatre or a relevant, related discipline; and substantial experience in collaborative, ensemble-based production management and/or self-producing.
  • Successful, relevant, theoretically-informed post-secondary teaching experience. Evidence of teaching effectiveness will ideally consist of a complete teaching dossier. Previous course evaluations, peer teaching evaluations, teaching letters of recommendation, or equivalent objective, systematically collected evidence will also be considered.
  • Expertise in anti-oppressive, decolonizing, anti-racist, anti-supremacist, or related approaches to theatre making, theatre pedagogy, and/or theatrical practices. Evidence of expertise will ideally demonstrate how these principles are integrated into the applicant’s post-secondary teaching. Expertise may include, for example, scholarly presentations or publications, development of professional practices, academic or professional leadership, consulting work, or professional development or training.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the BRIGHTSPACE online learning management system, the BrockDB online portal, the OASIS system for managing student accommodations, or equivalent systems in other institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty)
