About The Position

The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking a passionate and student-focused Chemistry faculty member to inspire and support learners through dynamic instruction, mentorship, and academic engagement. This full-time, 9-month position plays a key role in advancing student success through innovative teaching practices, curriculum development, and active participation in departmental and college initiatives. Faculty members contribute to an inclusive learning environment that prepares students for academic achievement, career advancement, and lifelong learning across CWI’s diverse campuses and instructional formats.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry or a closely related field.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to teach using a variety of instructional methods and technologies.
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching, student success, and professional development.
  • All candidates must reside within Idaho by the start of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Postsecondary teaching experience in the field of study preferred.
  • Experience working with adult learners or community college students preferred.
  • Experience with online or technology-enhanced instruction preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned Chemistry courses using innovative, student-centered teaching methods.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners and promotes student success.
  • Utilize instructional technology and multiple teaching modalities, including in-person and online learning environments.
  • Continuously assess and improve teaching effectiveness, course content, and student learning outcomes.
  • Advise and mentor students throughout their educational journey.
  • Encourage student engagement, persistence, and academic growth through accessible support and guidance.
  • Maintain high standards of instructional excellence and responsiveness to student needs.
  • Promote critical thinking and real-world application of chemistry concepts.
  • Collaborate with faculty and department leadership on curriculum development and course revisions.
  • Participate in program assessment, planning initiatives, and departmental improvement efforts.
  • Support college and departmental goals through committee work and institutional engagement.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development in chemistry education, pedagogy, and instructional technology.
  • Stay current within the discipline to enhance classroom relevance and student learning experiences.
  • Participate in service activities that support the mission and values of CWI.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative, team-oriented academic culture.
