The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking a Financial Aid Officer to provide expert guidance, exceptional service, and critical support to students, families, and the campus community. Requirements

  • One year of professional experience working with students in a postsecondary setting, or three years of other relevant professional experience
  • Customer service experience, especially in explaining complex rules or policies
  • Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to research and understand complex financial aid systems and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Proactive, adaptable, and detail-oriented

Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate, timely financial aid counseling to students and families
  • Support CWI’s One Stop Student Services locations with expert-level assistance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations
  • Help students understand and access financial aid options
  • Review and authorize financial aid awards
  • Foster a culture of quality, equity, and service excellence
  • Work closely with Enrollment & Student Services teams
  • Provide guidance to students, parents, and college personnel
  • Represent CWI positively through public speaking and outreach
  • Advise students and families on financial aid programs, eligibility, and application procedures
  • Provide in-depth support on complex financial aid issues
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of financial aid policies and regulations
  • Monitor compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Assist in ongoing institutional compliance efforts
  • Partner with student services and enrollment teams to deliver seamless support
  • Represent the college in outreach events and presentations
  • Provide leadership and training to support a high-quality student experience
