About The Position

College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach assigned Geography courses. This role involves utilizing the Canvas learning platform for various administrative and instructional tasks, including grading, posting office hours, and making announcements. The successful candidate may be required to teach at different CWI campus locations during weekdays or Saturdays, using their own transportation, or teach exclusively online. CWI encourages instructors to explore diverse teaching styles and methods to engage a broad range of students.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Geography or a related field of study, with a minimum of 12 graduate credits in discipline.
  • Experience teaching secondary level students in Geography or a related field of study.
  • Ability to enact a variety of teaching methodologies including lectures, group activities, individual instruction, distance learning, and teaching with technology
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development
  • Proficiency in the use of internet, email, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, and Canvas applications
  • All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years’ experience preferred
  • Experience using instructional technology preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach contracted credit load of courses in accordance with the descriptions published in the CWI catalog
  • Utilize outcomes assessment measures
  • Participate in instructional evaluation processes
  • Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviations being filed and communicated promptly through the appropriate channels
  • Monitor and record student progress, maintain accurate records and adhere to the College of Western Idaho’s deadlines for such procedures
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students
  • Adhere to the Social Science and Public Affairs Letter of Teaching Appointment and Faculty Expectations
  • Must be able to provide own means of transportation to various locations throughout the day; including travel between campuses if required.
