About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for ARTL 2P94: Embodied Text: Art Beyond the Artifact – D2. This course, also offered as CANA 2P94, IADM 2P94, MLLC 2P94, explores the functions of art and artifacts outside the conventions associated with words, texts, paintings, and scores. It involves experiencing musical, visual, movement, and theatre vocabularies through the exploration of spatial/temporal/aesthetic/embodied forms of art in performance. The course format is a seminar, 3 hours per week, and is blended, with in-class sessions on Thursdays from 18:00-19:30 and online asynchronous components.

Requirements

  • Relevant MA, MFA or PhD.
  • Demonstrated scholarship or experience understanding and teaching spectatorship, aesthetics, and contemporary critical theorization of diverse forms of artistic expression.
  • Previous teaching experience at the university level in the same subject field is required.
  • Demonstrated teaching competence through previous course evaluations and 3 letters of reference.
  • Demonstrated experience in experiential learning and online teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students.
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration.
  • Handling grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
