About The Position

The Instructional Training Developer reports to the Production Superintendent. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and facilitating high-quality, hands-on training programs that prepare employees to perform safely, efficiently, and consistently in an operational environment. This role partners closely with operations leadership, subject-matter experts, and Human Resources to design and facilitate learning solutions that improve workforce capability, reduce skill gaps, and ensure employees have the knowledge and hands-on capability to perform safely, efficiently, and consistently on the production floor.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in instructional design, training development, or operational training.
  • High School Diploma required or AA instructional technology or related field.
  • Proficiency with instructional design tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Captivate, LMS platforms).
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and competency-based training.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and project-management skills.
  • Ability to work on the production floor and translate real-world tasks into structured training.
  • Must be able to work in an industrial environment which includes climbing ladders and steps, able to work in confined spaces, get on scaffolding and manlift type equipment and wear PPE such as full body harness.
  • Must be clean shaven and able to wear supplied air and air purifying respiratory protection
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have a valid state issued driving license
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, and rules of composition and grammar.

  • Experience in manufacturing industrial operations is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and initiative in addressing equipment issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Design and Develop Training Materials: Create clear, engaging training content including SOPs, work instructions, e-learning modules, job aids, and hands-on training guides. Translate complex operational processes into easy-to-understand learning materials.
  • Support Workforce Readiness: Partner with HR to develop training pathways for operations new hires, cross-training, and upskilling initiatives. Build competency-based assessments, including WorkKeys alignment, skills checklists, and hands-on evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Operations Teams: Partner with supervisors, engineers, and safety teams to ensure training reflects current processes, equipment, and standards. Conduct task analyses and observe workflows to identify training needs.
  • Implement and Evaluate Training Programs: Facilitate classroom, on-the-job, and equipment-based training for new and existing employees. Measure training effectiveness using KPIs, assessments, and performance data. Identify training gaps, translate gaps into clear training goals, and develop targeted solutions. Continuously improve training materials based on feedback and operational changes. Demonstrate proper use of tools, machinery, and operational processes.
  • Maintain Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all training content meets regulatory, safety, and quality requirements. Maintain accurate training records and version control for all instructional materials.
