About The Position

We are seeking an Instructional Designer to join our Learning & Organizational Development (L&OD) team. This is a project-based contract role, ideal for a graduate student, recent graduate, or early-career freelancer. You will contribute to the design and development of L&OD programming, working within an established framework and style guide. The role involves designing learning architecture, sequencing, facilitator guides, and practice/assessment design, with a focus on leveraging AI tools in the workflow. You will partner with HR Leaders on specific projects and contribute to the broader L&OD roadmap. This is not a content production role, nor does it involve independent redesign of the internal framework or setting new learning strategy. It is a 1099 contractor engagement, not full-time or benefits-eligible.

Requirements

  • Training or coursework in instructional design, learning experience design, adult learning theory, or a closely related field (e.g., current or recent graduate study in I/O psychology, education, HR/OD, or instructional design).
  • Demonstrated fluency using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) as part of an actual instructional design or content development workflow.
  • Ability to design learning experiences with real architecture: clear objectives, logical sequencing, and built-in practice or assessment.
  • Strong plain-language writing skills; comfort with a “hallway test” design philosophy over jargon-heavy corporate training language.
  • Ability to work independently within a defined framework and style guide, while flagging thoughtful suggestions.
  • Availability for 20–30 hours/week for the duration of the engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with leadership, organizational, and team development frameworks or tools.
  • Experience building facilitator guides or train-the-trainer materials.
  • Portfolio examples of AI-assisted instructional design work.

Responsibilities

  • Design learning architecture for training modules and sessions, including objectives, sequencing, practice and assessment design, and facilitator guides.
  • Build training materials and programming using AI tools for drafting, scenario generation, rapid prototyping, and iteration.
  • Work within the existing values/competency framework and established visual/tone style, proposing refinements where opportunities exist.
  • Partner closely with HR Leaders on stakeholder-specific builds, taking direction on learning objectives and organizational fit.
  • Build programming that maintains internal ownership and does not depend on outside vendors or certified facilitators.
  • Contribute across the broader L&OD roadmap as priorities evolve.
