About The Position

The American Hospital Association (AHA) is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to join their Learning & Development team. This role is responsible for assessing, designing, developing, and executing educational content, with a strong emphasis on utilizing eLearning technology. The educational programs aim to equip society members with knowledge and skills in healthcare facility operations, regulatory compliance, planning, design, construction, and certifications. The position involves collaboration with team members and subject matter experts, managing content within Learning Management Systems (LMS), generating usage reports, and providing user support. The AHA offers a flexible hybrid work schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Adult Education, eLearning Design, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with instructional design and development of adult education programs, including virtual, in-person, online, and on-demand delivery.
  • Advanced experience with learning technology, including media design, authoring software, and gamification experience or similar.
  • Prior experience working with Learning Management Systems, user support, and program management.
  • Advanced knowledge of a variety of learning methods, including adaptive learning.
  • Advanced knowledge of instructional design models.
  • Advanced knowledge of evaluating learning methods and adapting facilitation methods and styles to maximize course outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles.
  • Advanced computer and Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Advanced skills with learning technology, virtual platforms (Zoom, Teams, Adobe Connect), and Learning Management Systems.
  • Advanced skills with Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Captivate.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of content management systems.
  • Project management software experience (Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, TeamWork).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CRMs or AMSs.
  • Basic knowledge of web display languages (i.e., HTML, CSS, SCORM, Java).
  • Ability to assess and analyze industry needs and leverage subject matter experts.
  • Ability to work with subject matter experts.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks within assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to implement creative ideas through technology.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn new technology.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop content for educational programs, courses, or other instructional materials and tools that meet member needs and advance their knowledge base, utilizing methods such as webinars, on-demand training, in-person programs, and distance learning.
  • Maintain existing programs for relevancy and manage updates using new or more effective modalities like adaptive learning, distance learning, and gamification.
  • Utilize multiple formats, including print, audio, visual, and multimedia, selecting the appropriate format for the target audience or content.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Evaluate the results of educational programs and modify future programs to meet educational goals, measuring learner engagement through data analytics.
  • Oversee curriculum management and user support for the Learning Management System.
  • Prepare reports on the ASHE educational portfolio, budget, expenses, and revenue as needed.
  • Monitor the progress of all development within budget and timelines.
  • Monitor sales of all educational programs and services.
  • Stay informed about instructional design trends, technologies, and best practices.
