About The Position

The American Hospital Association (AHA) is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to join their Learning & Development team. This role is responsible for assessing, designing, developing, and executing educational content, with a strong focus on utilizing eLearning technology. The educational programs developed will enable society members to acquire knowledge and skills related to health care facility operations, regulatory compliance, planning, design, construction, and certifications. This position collaborates with team members and subject matter experts on the development of various educational programs and works with Learning Management Systems to upload and manage content, generate usage reports, and provide user support. The AHA offers a flexible hybrid work schedule.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Adult Education, eLearning Design, or related field.
5+ years of experience with instructional design and development of adult education programs, including courses delivered virtually, in person, online, and on demand.
Advanced experience with learning technology, including media design, authoring software, and gamification experience or similar.
Prior experience working with Learning Management Systems, user support, and program management.
Advanced knowledge of a variety of learning methods, including adaptive learning.
Advanced knowledge of instructional design models.
Advanced knowledge of evaluating learning methods and adapting facilitation methods and styles that maximize course outcomes for participants.
Working knowledge of project management principles.
Advanced computer and Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Advanced skills with learning technology, virtual platforms (Zoom, Teams, Adobe Connect), and Learning Management Systems.
Advanced skills with Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Captivate.
Demonstrated knowledge of content management systems.
Project management software experience (Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, TeamWork).
Demonstrated knowledge of CRMs or AMSs.
Basic knowledge of web display languages (i.e., HTML, CSS, SCORM, Java).
Ability to assess and analyze industry needs and leverage the knowledge and wisdom of subject matter experts in supporting a given strategic initiative.
Ability to work with subject matter experts.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks within assigned deadlines.
Ability to implement creative ideas through technology.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Design and develop content for educational programs, courses, or other instructional materials or educational tools that meet member needs and advance their knowledge base.
Deliver education programs through various methods such as webinars, on-demand training, in-person programs, and distance learning.
Maintain existing programs for relevancy and manage updates using new or more effective modalities like adaptive learning, distance learning, and gamification.
Utilize multiple formats, including print, audio, visual, and multimedia, selecting the appropriate format for the target audience or content.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and thoroughness.
Evaluate the results of educational programs and modify future programs to meet educational goals.
Measure learner engagement through data analytics.
Oversee curriculum management and user support of the Learning Management System.
Prepare reports on ASHE educational portfolio, budget, expense, and revenue as needed.
Monitor the progress of all development within budget and timelines.
Monitor sales of all educational programs and services.
Stay informed about instructional design trends, technologies, and best practices.
