About The Position

The Lansing School District is seeking an Instructional Assistant for the BEST (Bilingual Education Summer Tutoring) Camp. This is a 6-week summer program focused on in-person instruction for Multilingual Learner Students. The program will take place onsite at Hill Center / Lansing Tech High School. The curriculum will focus on English Language acquisition & Literacy for K-8 grade clusters and credit recovery for 9-12 grade clusters. The role involves assisting with targeted curriculum, supporting short daytime field trips, and working with students in specific grade clusters (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, or 9-12). A paid planning week will occur before the program, and debrief and reporting time will follow.

Requirements

Experience as an Instructional Assistant.
Ability to work with Multilingual Learner Students.
Familiarity with English Language acquisition & Literacy.
Ability to support credit recovery programs.
Willingness to participate in field trips.
Availability for the 6-week program duration (June 16th - July 30th).
Availability for the paid planning week and post-program debrief/reporting time.
Ability to work Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Responsibilities

Provide in-person instruction to Multilingual Learner Students.
Assist with targeted curriculum for assigned grade clusters (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, or 9-12).
Support English Language acquisition & Literacy for K-8 students.
Assist with credit recovery for 9-12 students.
Accompany students on short daytime field trips to locations such as Potter Park, Ebersole, and Michigan State University.
Participate in a paid planning week before the program.
Engage in debrief and reporting time after the program concludes.
