About The Position

Instructional Assistant IIIs support students with severe/emotionally disturbed needs. This role involves working with students who have a Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs, specifically those designated as emotionally disturbed (ED) or in an autism class, or assisting individual students assigned to a Behaviorist. The position requires experience working with groups of children and is highly desirable for candidates with experience working with impaired children or adults, and coursework in child development.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Passing score from San Juan Unified School District's Proficiency Exam (April 2005 to current) OR Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
• Passing the IA Proficiency Test or having the CBEST is required, regardless of educational background.
• Experience working with groups of children.
• If degree/transcripts are from a foreign college or university, coursework must be evaluated for equivalency to a degree/transcripts from an accredited U.S. college or university.
• Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license (in some programs).

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with impaired children or adults highly desirable.
• Coursework in child development highly desirable.

Responsibilities
