About The Position

This is a part-time (0.75 FTE) permanent position for an Instructional Assistant II providing 1:1 support at Albert Schweitzer K-5. The role involves working with students served in Resource, Learning Handicap, or Communicatively Handicap programs. Typical duties include running small groups, assisting students in large groups in Special Day Class or General Education settings, and supporting teacher needs. Candidates should possess relevant experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties. In some programs, a valid California Class C Driver License may be required within 30 days of hire or before driving specific equipment/vehicles.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Passing score from San Juan Unified School District's Proficiency Exam (April 2005 to current) OR Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
  • Passing the IA Proficiency Test or having the CBEST is required, regardless of educational background.
  • If degree/transcripts are from a foreign college or university, coursework must be evaluated for equivalency to a degree/transcripts from an accredited U.S. college or university.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license.
