About The Position

Inspector/Sorter is responsible for monitoring, recording, and verifying product, equipment, and environmental criteria at designated points throughout the production process. This position plays a critical role in food safety by monitoring Critical Control Points (CCPs) and ensuring compliance with HACCP plans, regulatory requirements, and Tyson policies and procedures in a fresh food manufacturing environment. Places product in designated areas determined by management. Mirror Trimmer inspects product as it passes on the shackle line, trimming to remove any matter. Removes product from the shackle line and places on hang back racks adjacent to their workstation for later processing as needed. Removes limbs that have been marked by USDA and management. Trims away other undesirable matter from finished product. Backup Rehanger hangs any birds not properly transferred from the initial lines to the eviscerating lines by the auto transfer machines and looks for Product to ensure it is placed properly on the line. Utility Laborer is responsible for maintaining continuous product flow and supporting production operations in a fresh food manufacturing environment. This position relieves Team Members for breaks, fills in during labor shortages, and performs a variety of production support tasks while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all Tyson policies, food safety standards, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Previous manufacturing or fresh food production experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn and perform multiple production tasks.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in multiple production areas.

  • Basic communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, or humid conditions typical of a fresh plant environment.
  • Required use of PPE, including gloves, aprons, hairnets, and protective footwear.
  • Must be available to work assigned shifts.
  • Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required based on production needs.

  • Looking for Product to ensure it is placed properly on the line.
  • Maintaining continuous product flow on production lines to support efficiency and throughput.
  • Relieving Team Members on the production line for breaks, lunches, and absences.
  • Filling in for open positions during labor shortages to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Performing multiple production tasks as assigned, including but not limited to packing, sorting, staging, and material handling.
  • Assisting with product movement between production areas to prevent downtime or congestion.
  • Monitoring work areas to ensure product quality, food safety, and sanitation standards are met.
  • Following all standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to fresh product handling.
  • Assisting supervisors by responding quickly to changing production needs.
  • Identifying and reporting safety hazards, equipment issues, or product concerns immediately.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of production areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Complying with all Tyson policies, OSHA regulations, USDA requirements, and food safety guidelines.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support production and operational goals.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment at all times and strictly adhering to Tyson policies, food safety requirements, OSHA regulations, and plant procedures.
