About The Position

The Inside Sales Support role within our lumberyard operations is pivotal in ensuring seamless communication and coordination between customers, sales representatives, and operations teams. This position focuses on providing exceptional customer service by managing inquiries, processing orders accurately, and supporting the sales team to meet and exceed sales targets. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships, resolving issues promptly, and facilitating efficient order fulfillment. By leveraging product knowledge and sales support tools, this role contributes directly to customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Ultimately, the Inside Sales Support position helps drive business growth by supporting a smooth sales process and fostering positive customer experiences.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a customer service or sales support role, preferably within a lumberyard, building materials, or related industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher in Business, Sales, or a related field.
  • Experience with sales order processing software or CRM systems.
  • Knowledge of lumberyard products, construction materials, and industry terminology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team and with cross-functional departments.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and logistics coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries via phone, email, and in-person regarding product availability, pricing, and order status.
  • Process sales orders accurately in the system, ensuring all customer requirements and specifications are met.
  • Collaborate closely with outside sales representatives and operations staff to coordinate order fulfillment and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lumberyard products, pricing, promotions, and inventory levels to provide accurate information to customers.
  • Assist in resolving customer issues or complaints by liaising with relevant departments to ensure timely and satisfactory solutions.
  • Support sales reporting and documentation, including preparing quotes, tracking sales metrics, and updating customer records.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on customer trends and operational challenges.
