About The Position

Pinnacle Propane is hiring an Inside Sales Representative to support residential growth through sales, upselling, customer relationship management, and account management. The representative owns the customer journey from initial inquiry through account creation and the first completed propane delivery. The role qualifies opportunities, recommends appropriate products and programs, closes sales, sets up accounts accurately, and coordinates with internal teams to ensure a smooth start to service. It also includes outbound prospecting, following up on unconverted leads, reengaging customers, and identifying ways to strengthen customer relationships through relevant service and program recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to earn incentives for acquiring new residential customers under the company's applicable incentive plan. Incentive eligibility, requirements, and payment details are communicated separately. The role is office-based five days a week for the first six months; a hybrid schedule may become available afterward. Assigned hours may include early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends depending on customer demand and business needs. The work takes place in an office or contact center and involves sustained telephone and computer use across inbound and scheduled outbound calls. Occasional travel to a service center or depot may be required for training, ride-along observation, or team meetings.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 years of inside sales, telesales, or customer acquisition experience with a conversion target, including hands-on outbound calling.
  • Demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding a conversion, retention, or revenue target, including self-sourced or outbound-sourced production.
  • Willingness and resilience to initiate outbound calls, work a calling cadence, and handle rejection without slowing down.
  • Working knowledge of residential propane service, or ability to learn it quickly, including will-call versus automatic delivery, tank ownership, budget programs, and the site inspection requirement before first fill.
  • Strong verbal communication and active listening skills; ability to remain calm and credible with frustrated customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in propane, home heating oil, utilities, HVAC, home services, insurance, or another consumer service sold by phone.
  • Experience using a CRM-managed lead queue; Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound new-customer inquiries and marketing-generated leads within the published speed-to-lead standard; work the assigned lead queue in priority order and complete the full contact cadence.
  • Qualify opportunities by assessing service address and serviceability, tank ownership and size, current supplier and contract status, expected usage, decision timing, and credit path.
  • Own new-customer questions and account needs through first delivery, coordinating with Customer Care, Service, and Dispatch; route routine existing-customer service requests to the appropriate team while supporting assigned sales, upselling, retention, and account management activities.
  • Record accurate lead outcomes and next steps in Salesforce, ensuring every lead has an owner and a date; flag leads that fail agreed acceptance criteria for review by Marketing.
  • Complete daily outbound prospecting blocks, targeting net-new residential customers in selected ZIP codes and working recovery targets in published priority order.
  • Convert will-call customers to automatic delivery and generate and pursue referrals from existing customers, builders, realtors, HVAC and plumbing trades, and community contacts, while contacting only consent- and do-not-contact-screened records.
  • Lead sales conversations using the approved residential playbook, ask for the business on every qualified call, and recommend automatic delivery and budget or level-pay enrollment as the default for new accounts; record customer program elections.
  • Quote using current approved pricing and correctly capture quoted prices at order entry.
  • Complete new-account setup accurately, including fields required for delivery, billing, and compliance.
  • Schedule or trigger required site inspections and tank sets, track sold accounts through first delivery, and make a welcome contact after first fill.
  • Coordinate with Onboarding, Service, and Dispatch to resolve scheduling and work-order gaps, escalating accounts that exceed the published sale-to-fill cycle-time standard.
  • Work assigned at-risk and win-back lists on the defined cadence and priorities; handle qualifying warm transfers from the Customer Relationship Center within approved authority limits and record standard loss reasons for lost accounts worked.
  • Use Salesforce as the system of record and log contact attempts, conversations, quotes, and commitments on the appropriate record the same day.
  • Participate in daily lead working cadence, weekly funnel reviews, call reviews, and coaching sessions, and apply coaching received.
