Qualifying and generating sales within established territories, with a focus on exceeding customer expectations. This role involves interacting with customers via phone, email, or in person to quote prices, material availability, and delivery times, and to obtain orders for steel products. The representative will develop and implement systems for customer follow-up to generate sales, demonstrate the ability to complete sales forms, determine selling prices, estimate charges for services, and prepare orders for delivery. Negotiation and decision-making regarding outside services such as machining, forming, galvanizing, and drilling are also key functions. The role requires developing an understanding of the purchase order system, building business relationships and integrity with customers to maintain or increase sales levels, and soliciting new accounts. Handling customer complaints regarding billing, pricing, service, quality, and charges, and working with various departments to resolve issues in a timely manner is essential. The representative will also institute paperwork for product returns and credits as necessary. Developing and utilizing knowledge of market conditions, competitor methods, service advantages, and credit policies to maximize company profitability is crucial. Collaboration with the sales manager and sales staff on strategies for key and target accounts, and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of company products, procedures, processing, equipment, and estimating techniques are also required. Coordination of special customer needs with purchasing, production, and credit departments is part of the role. Adherence to the Quality Policy and training in all relevant Quality procedures are mandatory.
