About The Position

Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is seeking an Inside Account Representative to manage relationships within an assigned portfolio. This role is responsible for driving customer retention, ensuring satisfaction, and identifying growth opportunities within small and mid-sized business accounts. IWS is a leading provider of solid waste and recycling services in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, committed to high-quality service and employee safety, while combining the resources of a large company with the values of a family-run business.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in account management, customer service, or sales roles, preferably in the waste management or environmental services industry.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with customers of varying backgrounds and industries.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of successful price negotiations, contract renewals, and upselling opportunities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service and support.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) for managing account information and communication.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required. Equivalent work experience and skills will also be considered.
  • Understanding of waste management regulations, industry standards, and best practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of small and mid-sized business accounts, serving as the primary point of contact for all account-related inquiries.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for upselling additional services or recommending tailored solutions to meet evolving customer needs and enhance overall account performance.
  • Employ strong sales skills to negotiate price increases, contract renewals, service enhancements, and other sales-related activities to drive revenue growth and maximize profitability.
  • Utilize effective sales techniques to overcome objections and address customer concerns, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Foster strong, long-lasting relationships with key clients, serving as a trusted advisor and strategic partner.
  • Effectively communicate the company's value proposition to drive customer engagement and loyalty.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including operations and customer service, to ensure seamless service delivery and resolve customer issues in a timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities for account expansion and growth by upselling additional services or recommending tailored solutions.
  • Monitor account performance metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Utilize CRM software and other sales tools to maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales activities, and account updates.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and market developments, sharing insights and best practices with customers as appropriate.
