Foundation Health•Fairbanks, AK

About The Position

Foundation Health Partners is hiring caring, motivated people for its Inpatient CNA Sponsorship Program at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, with a January 2027 start. The program supports participants as they train to become inpatient Certified Nursing Assistants while introducing them to a team focused on compassion, teamwork, and patient care. Sponsorship openings are available on the Medical (2S) and Medical/Surgical (3W) units. Applicants shadow on a unit as part of selection; department leaders jointly determine final placements. Participants are hired as PRN before classes and complete hiring, onboarding, and required background checks. During the first half of training, participants focus on school and are not required to work regular hospital shifts, though they may attend paid staff meetings, trainings, and team activities when their schedules allow. In the second half, participants begin paid hospital orientation and limited shifts arranged around classes. Paid work hours vary during training, and the program does not require or guarantee a set number of weekly hours during the first half. After training, participants work as Patient Care Techs on an inpatient unit. After certification, they may move toward a CNA position on their assigned unit after meeting program and job requirements, when a position is available. Participants are expected to attend classes and make steady progress, complete required coursework and certification steps, meet with their manager and educator for paid progress check-ins, attend assigned shifts and orientation during the second half, and communicate questions or needs for support. They must treat patients, families, and coworkers with kindness, honesty, and respect. The role provides direct patient care, supports nursing staff with delegated clinical tasks, and helps maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked care environment. Duties may include activities of daily living, vital-sign collection, documentation, patient transport, infection-control practices, equipment and supply management, and clerical and communication support.
