About The Position

Corewell Health Hospice provides end-of-life care and symptom management to individuals with a life expectancy of six months or less, serving patients at home, in nursing facilities, and in the hospital. The CNA provides direct day-to-day care to assigned patients under the direction of the Unit Manager or a Licensed Nurse, following unit policies and procedures. Care includes assisting with dressing, bathing, transporting, and feeding, documenting care, maintaining the patient environment and equipment, and participating in selected quality-monitoring activities. The role also requires completing and maintaining the required number of CNA educational hours.

This is a part-time, night-shift position at the Hanson Residence – Hospice South in Stevensville, Michigan. The schedule is 24 hours per week, with hours from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on variable days and every other weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Nursing Assistant Training Program.
• Michigan State Nursing Assistant Certification required within 120 days.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of the Unit Manager or Licensed Nurse, consistent with unit policies and procedures.
• Provide day-to-day care to assigned patients, including dressing, bathing, transporting, and feeding.
• Document care provided as directed and in accordance with guidelines.
• Maintain patients’ environments, work areas, and equipment, and communicate equipment malfunctions to the appropriate department or unit personnel.
• Complete and maintain the required number of CNA educational hours.
• Participate in selected unit quality-monitoring activities under the direction of the Unit Manager or Nurse Leader.
