About The Position

Corewell Health Hospice provides end-of-life care and symptom management to people with a life expectancy of six months or less in their homes, nursing facilities, and hospitals. Team members work within an interdisciplinary approach to care for patients and their families.

The CNA provides direct day-to-day patient care under the direction of the Unit Manager or a Licensed Nurse, following unit policies and procedures. The role also includes documenting care, maintaining the patient environment and equipment, completing required CNA education hours, and participating in selected quality-monitoring activities.

This is a part-time night-shift position at the Merlin & Carolyn Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, with 24 scheduled hours per week. Hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.; days are variable, and the position includes every other weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Nursing Assistant Training Program.
• Michigan State Nursing Assistant Certification within 120 days.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of the Unit Manager or Licensed Nurse, consistent with unit policies and procedures.
• Provide day-to-day care for assigned patients, including dressing, bathing, transporting, and feeding.
• Document care provided as directed and in accordance with guidelines.
• Maintain patients’ environments, work areas, and equipment, and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
• Complete and maintain the required number of CNA educational hours.
• Participate in selected unit quality-monitoring activities under the direction of the Unit Manager or Nurse Leader.
