The Initial Grinder Operator assembles and operates equipment for the grinding operation. Setup and teardown involve installing grinder screws and locking collars, moving a 450-pound screw, installing a 50-pound grinder head, and tightening it with a 20-pound wrench. This is normally required about three times per shift. At the beginning of the shift, the operator assembles screw augers and installs auger covers weighing approximately 40 pounds each. Throughout the shift, the operator records combo and total weights to communicate fills to supervisors and leads, monitors metal detection equipment, and documents results for Quality Assurance in shop tool software three times daily. The operator enters product codes and weights into an HMI screen for batch documentation and inspects meat before grinding by turning cuts and visually checking for foreign objects. If a conveyor jam occurs, the operator clears it with a pitchfork by removing meat from behind the metal detector and plow as needed. The operator also assists with LBT grinding and dumping as needed for breaks or absenteeism. This includes removing cardboard from frozen trim and LBT and dumping 60-pound LBT blocks, 23 times per batch, and 70-pound trim blocks, 7 times per batch. The team member must keep pace with a standard production rate of 22 fills, or approximately 130,000 pounds, per day. The position requires standing throughout the shift and performing the stated physical tasks with or without reasonable accommodation. This opening is limited to team members currently working at this facility or complex; team members at other Tyson facilities should express interest through their local HR Partner.
