About The Position

The Infrastructure Specialist will install Edge networking equipment across the State of Nebraska and assist State network engineers in maintaining and troubleshooting existing Edge network infrastructure. The role provides intermediate-level technical support for installation, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of Edge network hardware, while coordinating networking projects across multiple agencies. The position is onsite in Lincoln, Nebraska, and is a 12+ month contract. Standard daytime hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; after-hours work and overnight stays may be required.

Requirements

• Intermediate knowledge of information technology theory, principles, and practices, particularly in Edge routing and switching.
• Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, local and wide area network systems, and enterprise network devices.
• Knowledge of client/server network protocols and Internet/Intranet applications.
• Knowledge of data network troubleshooting and troubleshooting tools.
• Ability to deliver responsive, quality customer service.
• Ability to write clear and concise systems and procedures documentation.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects across an enterprise network.
• Ability to read, understand, and apply information from technical manuals.
• Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

• Network certifications are desired.
• Working knowledge of enterprise network devices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install Edge networking devices across the State of Nebraska.
• Provide intermediate-level technical support for installation, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of Edge network hardware.
• Coordinate multiple networking projects across agencies, including installations and decommissions.
• Evaluate network systems, determine patch and upgrade needs, and analyze future technical requirements.
• Develop and maintain procedures and processes, create documentation, and assist clients and other IT employees.
• Work efficiently with a team of network engineers.
• Implement disaster recovery plans.
• Communicate with vendors and other stakeholders.
