Information Technology Manager - Public Safety

About The Position

The City of Torrance is recruiting for an Information Technology Manager - Public Safety to be part of the Information Technology Services (ITS) Division Team in the Torrance Police Department. The Torrance Police Department's mission is to preserve public safety and quality of life within the City of Torrance, to respond effectively to the changing needs of the community, and to promote mutual respect between the Police Department and the people it serves. The Public Safety IT Manager plans, develops, implements, and supports the TPD technology systems data center, cybersecurity, and network operations. This position supports all TPD enterprise systems, regularly monitors project status and systems performance metrics to ensure results consistent with customer expectations, coordinates projects with other City departments and agencies, is responsible for the TPD ITS division’s service requests, project tracking, and staff workload in the ITSM system, and performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months of actual service after permanent appointment as a civil service employee by the final filing period.
  • Graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field such as information technology or information security.
  • Over seven (7) years of enterprise applications development and support in the government or business environment.
  • At least three (3) years of supervisory and project management experience.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Must possess and maintain an appropriate valid California driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in enterprise applications development, GIS technologies, cybersecurity, database management, Microsoft Power Platform, or programming languages are highly desired.

Responsibilities
