About The Position

Quest Corporation of America, Florida’s leading transportation communications firm, is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Safety Public Information Specialist to support the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 4 Safety Office in an embedded role. Reporting directly to the District Safety Administrator, this position will lead communications and public outreach efforts that strengthen awareness of transportation safety initiatives across FDOT District 4. The ideal candidate is a collaborative communications professional with experience in public information, safety outreach, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications who can effectively translate safety priorities into impactful public messaging. This position plays an important role in supporting District 4’s commitment to advancing roadway safety, strengthening community awareness, and promoting statewide safety initiatives through innovative communication strategies and outreach programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum two (2) years of transportation communications experience supporting a state or municipal agency OR professional experience in: Communications - Public Relations - Outreach Experience
  • Experience organizing public meetings and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Experience creating presentations and delivering information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience developing video content and publishing communications across digital and social media platforms.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • SharePoint and collaboration tools
  • PDF editing software
  • Video recording and editing software/equipment
  • Social media content creation and publishing

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic safety communication initiatives supporting FDOT District 4 priorities.
  • Create and deliver public safety messaging, educational materials, presentations, videos, and outreach content.
  • Collaborate with District Safety Office staff and cross-functional teams to advance safety awareness efforts.
  • Develop content for internal and external communications channels, including social media and digital platforms.
  • Coordinate and support safety outreach opportunities, public engagement efforts, and community partnerships.
  • Present safety-related initiatives and campaigns to internal teams, stakeholders, and community audiences.
  • Create and maintain communication resources, safety assets, messaging libraries, and digital repositories.
  • Evaluate safety communication campaigns and identify opportunities to enhance public engagement.
  • Participate in statewide safety initiatives and partner meetings to align District messaging with statewide transportation safety goals.
  • Support the development of communication tools, workshops, and educational resources that reinforce District safety priorities.
  • Provide strategic communication recommendations and innovative ideas to strengthen District 4 safety storytelling.
