About The Position

The IT Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing USADA’s information technology environment and operations to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient systems that support the organization’s mission to preserve the integrity of competition and protect clean athletes. This role provides hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight, focusing on stabilizing core infrastructure, optimizing operations, advancing server (cloud and on-prem) solutions, and security. The IT Manger will oversee day-to-day IT operations, manages IT projects from concept through implementation, and partners with business units to align technology solutions with organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in IT, including experience administering networks, servers, and enterprise systems in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in IT management or team lead role, including planning work, setting priorities, and coordinating multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of current IT infrastructure, operating systems, networking concepts, and enterprise security practices, including backup and recovery, access control, and monitoring.
  • Experience implementing, configuring, and testing IT solutions, including both on‑premises and cloud-based technologies and endpoint management.
  • Proven ability to manage IT projects through the full development and implementation lifecycle, including requirements gathering, vendor coordination, testing, and deployment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships, provide high‑quality customer service, and work effectively across departments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

  • Moderate proficiency in MS Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in or with sports organizations, anti‑doping programs, or related fields such as sports science or sports governance.
  • Experience supporting or managing systems in highly regulated, data‑sensitive environments (for example, health, research, or compliance‑focused organizations).
  • Advanced degree in information technology, information systems, or a related field, or a business degree with a technology concentration.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as PMP, ITIL, CISSP, CISM, or cloud platform certifications.
  • Hands‑on experience with modern identity management, API integration, data analytics, or business intelligence tools that support program operations and reporting.
  • Demonstrated success introducing technology innovations, process improvements, or automation that improved service quality, efficiency, or security.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and manage daily IT operations, including networks, servers, endpoints, cloud services, and business applications, to maintain high availability, security, and performance.
  • Optimize existing systems, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, reduce technical debt, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee and enhance core IT processes, including incident management, system implementation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of IT infrastructure, including backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Manage and develop IT staff and/or vendors, including workload planning, performance management, and professional development to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements, roadmaps, and project plans that support USADA’s anti-doping programs, education, and operations.
  • Manage and execute IT projects across the full lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution evaluation, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.
  • Establish, document, and maintain IT policies, standards, and procedures for security, access control, data protection, incident response, and asset management.
  • Administer core enterprise systems such as identity and access management, email and collaboration platforms, business applications, and data integrations.
  • Monitor systems for security, reliability, and capacity; identify and resolve issues proactively, and coordinate response to incidents and outages.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and consultants, including contract oversight and performance management.
  • Develop and manage the IT operating and capital budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and prioritization of investments.
  • Provide user support, training, and communication to ensure effective adoption of systems and adherence to IT policies.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, cybersecurity trends, and industry best practices, and recommend improvements that enhance USADA’s technology posture and capabilities.
