About The Position

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is hiring an Information Systems Security Engineer to provide cyber and technical support for classified networks, standalone systems, security systems, and security tools used for vulnerability management, patch management, and auditing. The role manages complex security plans and component configurations, maintains cybersecurity tools, leads incident response, and leads large-scale computer security projects. The engineer works with team members, customers, management, and sponsors to resolve complex cybersecurity problems. The position is in the Information Technology Solutions Division, supporting the Field Intelligence Element within the Computing Directorate. The role serves as the author and owner of comprehensive cybersecurity document packages; plans, designs, and evaluates cybersecurity solutions; performs security tasks such as vulnerability remediation and computer-log audits; and creates policies, procedures, test plans, and risk analyses. It also involves inspecting systems for compliance, working with system administrators to maintain security and accreditation, collaborating with customers on computing environments and security processes, and researching and managing cybersecurity projects across multiple environments. At the SES.4 level, the engineer partners with the FIE Cyber Manager on stakeholder collaboration and negotiation, provides security architecture guidance and oversight, and establishes priorities, allocates resources, manages schedules, and delivers complex projects within cost and time constraints. The position requires full-time on-site presence. Hiring level (SES.3 or SES.4) depends on knowledge and related experience assessed by the hiring team.
