About The Position

As the Industrial Painter, you will be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of paint coating, spray booth equipment, and systems, as well as performing the cleaning, sanding, priming, and painting machine parts surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of paint and coatings designed to withstand the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry.

Requirements

  • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment, handle competing demands, and deal with frequent changes, delays, or other unexpected events
  • Attention to detail to ensure precision in painting applications
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve effectively and efficiently
  • Physical requirements include standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds, and bending
  • Exposure to handling hazardous materials and working in semi-enclosed spaces
  • Understanding of different coatings and their properties
  • Familiarity with spray guns, sanders and other industrial painting tools

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to apprenticeship programs, classroom instruction or industrial painting experience is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Use of spray equipment to apply paint and other materials
  • Clean and prep surfaces using such processes as sanding, scraping and grinding
  • Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust in preparation for paint application, using abrasives, solvents, or sandblasters
  • Follow safety protocols and wear prescribed personal protective equipment to prevent injuries
  • Pour paint into spray guns and adjust nozzles and paint mixes for proper paint flow and coating thickness
  • Monitor and identify flaws, such as blisters or streaks, and correct the cause
  • Sand surfaces between coats of paint or primer to remove flaws and enhance adhesion for subsequent coats
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment, using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths for cleaning duties
  • Ensure all paint related waste is properly labeled, stored and disposed of
  • Safely operate overhead cranes to move material to and from paint booths
  • Work collaboratively with other production team members to meet production goals and timelines
