About The Position

Apply paint, powder coat, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer using spray equipment or manual techniques to protect and finish products, equipment, or structures. Prepare surfaces for coating by sanding, scraping, cleaning, masking, and removing old coatings to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality. Operate and adjust spray equipment, including powder coat systems, to achieve consistent coverage and finish thickness. Review work orders, specifications, and instructions to ensure correct coating application and appearance. Monitor and allow proper curing and drying times, including oven cure cycles for powder coating, prior to inspection and next production steps. Perform routine cleaning, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of spray guns, powder coat equipment, booths, and related tools. Inspect coated parts for quality, thickness, defects, and finish to ensure compliance with customer and internal standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines. Collaborate closely with team members to meet production schedules and quality expectations. Provide guidance, training, or review of work for less experienced painters or powder coaters (level dependent).

Requirements

  • Experience with surface preparation, paint application, powder coating, and spraying techniques
  • Proficiency using spray guns, powder coat equipment, sanding tools, and general hand tools
  • Understanding of various coatings, finishes, cure processes, and quality control requirements
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high‑quality finishes
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, production schedules, and safety procedures
  • Willingness to learn and expand skills across painting and powder coating operations
  • Dependable attendance with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent hands‑on experience
  • Additional experience and the ability to train or mentor others for senior‑level roles
