About The Position

The Industrial Painter prepares, coats, and finishes metal components and assemblies per drawings, work instructions, and coating specifications. This role is accountable for safety, consistent finish quality, efficient throughput, and effective collaboration with the fabrication and quality teams.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2 - 4 years industrial painting; heavy manufacturing preferred.
  • Technical: Ability to mix/identify paints; strong quality orientation and attention to detail.
  • Availability: Willingness to work overtime and off-hours when needed.
  • Safety/Medical: Must pass respirator fit test and pulmonary evaluation; consistent use of PPE.
  • Background: Ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with industrial spray systems (e.g., HVLP, electrostatic, pressure-pot) and routine gun/booth maintenance.
  • Ability to read drawings/work instructions and coating product data sheets; understanding of DFT targets and cure parameters.
  • Experience in structural/heavy fabrication or enclosure manufacturing environments.
  • Basic troubleshooting of coating defects and ability to adjust prep/spray parameters.

Responsibilities

  • Perform surface preparation (e.g., grinding, sanding, masking, chemical cleaning, caulking) to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality.
  • Mix and identify paints/coatings according to product data and shop requirements; maintain batch and usage accuracy.
  • Apply coatings using approved spray techniques to achieve required dry film thickness (DFT), appearance, and durability; maintain clean edges and proper masking.
  • Inspect in-process and finished work for defects (e.g., sags, runs, pinholes) and correct as needed to meet internal quality standards.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate painting equipment safely; work from ladders and platforms as required for access.
  • Comply with all company and customer safety policies, including required PPE, respirator use, and housekeeping in paint areas.
  • Support production schedules by completing assigned work on time and coordinating with supervisors and adjacent departments.
