About The Position

The Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech is seeking applicants with a specialization in Industrial-Organizational Psychology for an open-rank tenure-line position, at either the Assistant, Associate, or Full professor level (commensurate with experience). Successful applicants will be required to have a Ph.D. by the anticipated August 10, 2027 start date, a demonstrated commitment to and successful track-record appropriate to their rank in research, teaching and mentoring, and service and engagement, and show promise in securing future extramural funding to support their research program. The areas of research and teaching expertise within industrial-organizational psychology are open, although we are particularly interested in candidates who can align with broader department and university initiatives relevant to data science (e.g., machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data approaches to understanding organizations and work) and/or the intersection of industrial-organizational psychology and related fields such as occupational health (e.g., employee well-being, stress, workplace interventions, occupational safety). The Department of Psychology, housed within the College of Science at Virginia Tech, is a Carnegie Foundation R1 doctoral institution, and faculty members of the Department of Psychology are highly active scholars across a range of research areas (i.e., Industrial-Organizational, Clinical, and Cognitive Neuroscience and Behavior, Developmental), who work to increase understanding of psychological processes involved in human behavior. While faculty members in Psychology share a common interest in psychological processes, our specific interests, research methods, and expertise are diverse and include both behavioral and neuroscience approaches with experimental, survey, and big data methodologies. Some researchers are committed to increasing understanding of basic psychological processes, while others emphasize implications for developmental, organizational, and clinical issues. The Psychology Department offers a supportive environment, including a mentoring program for its junior faculty.
